With my Lambrini in hand, the crowds and I gathered around the independent business stalls to see what they had to offer us on this exciting night of Liverpool Fashion Week, held at the Royal Liver Buildings. After half an hour of scanning guests took their seats as lights dimmed and the show for Independent new designer talent began.

Models took to the runway for Independent designer Sofia Douvari as she showcased her AW 13/14 collection. The packed audience was transfixed as models strutted down the runway with sheer elegance. Playing with patterns and textures, the timeless designs were a mix of leather, silk and metallic, with the stand out pieces including satin evening wear. The show ended with a stunning crop top with oversized organza sleeves and a dipped hemline skirt. This black and silver number stunned the audience into a loud cheer and applause.

The hair and makeup gave a vibe of rebelliousness. The models, represented by Models 101, took to the catwalk with big, bold hair reluctant to shy away from a backcombing brush. Make-up throughout all shows remained consistently strong and heavy with a pop of colour.

Possibly the biggest cheer of the night came during the break when the ‘Valentine Brothers’, a three piece band made up of three brothers, treated us to their own renditions of Robin Thicke, Daft Punk and Mumford and Sons along with an original song ‘Stupid Kinda Crazy’.

After a Lambrini refill, next up was a collection that wouldn’t be out of place in Ocean beach, Ibiza. With a mix of swimsuit style dresses, sheer material, faux fur and a beach ball were just a few examples that graced the catwalk. Liegh Taylor designs energetically strutted to Jason Derulo, ending with a barefoot model taking to the runway in a stunning black floor length ruffle dress.

‘It has to be vintage darling’ –  from the word go the designer set the catwalk with each successive piece felt like you were taken to the 60’s with a modern twist. Adding that extra fun factor, models accessorised their outfit with matching balloons tied to their wrist. White tights, bright colours and loose hemlines were what brought this collection alive.

To end the show a model came out with an umbrella that she put up at the end of the catwalk which allowed rose petals  to fall, giving the cameras a must have shot.

Our favourite look however came from the audience. Designer Ngolela from Boston was bang on trend with her monochrome striped H&M dress and Neon Jessica Simpson bag. Ngolela will showcase her collection on Thursday at Liverpool Fashion Week, and we simply cannot wait.
