Friday saw the classic high street brands hit Liverpool Fashion Week; from New Look to Mango we are spoilt for choice choosing our clothes for Autumn/Winter.

Our first must have brand was off the scale, with such a variety of clothes from dresses, to coats and this seasons must have cape, the selection showed a number of autumn essentials. Our favourite piece was a beautiful green tartan dress that nailed the tartan frenzy we all seem to be adopting.

Friday brought edge with models having strong, dark make-up with tattoos on show. The models style deliberately seemed to be more relatable to the high street and its customers.

The night didn’t just provide female fashion – male models made an appearance for a number of brands. Full time male model Danevv Sekhon said: “I love doing this; it is my first Liverpool Fashion week. Liverpool is really good, there is a great atmosphere.”

Urban leisure brand SBC were up next with their his and hers collection. The male models wore monochrome black and white shirts closely followed by army print jackets, shirts and jumpers. SBC even showed cased their own version of the denim jacket that incorporated leather sleeves. All the male models were all in agreement that SBC were their favourite brand describing it as ‘really out there’.

Our next favourite trend of the night was from Fashion Union who took advantage of the Skort phenomenon by adding floral prints and faux leather.  New Look and Internationale brought a similar collection to the catwalk which was full off fedoras, faux fur, bowler hats and the top trend of the tartan. One thing that Internationale did to trump New Look was the statement necklaces with a mix of jewels, colours, sizes and materials.

One show that made us green with envy was Boux Avenue with their mix of underwear, pyjamas and lingerie. The stand out piece was the bridal lingerie which got raving reviews from the women in the crowd, with one woman saying it was stunning.

Finishing the night was Mango showing us how work attire doesn’t always have to be dull – we can even make leather our new friend at work!

Evident top trends of the night were tartan, capes, faux fur and versions of the very popular Zara skort. We can’t wait to see how high street lovers will embrace these styles. One thing Liverpool girls have a knack for is making an item of clothing their own.
